This is not what I expected This is not what I had planned But do you think it shows Too long to try to explain it Too much to try to understand Never reached any of my goals Success has always been denied But do you think it shows I think of chances never taken And it tears me up inside One of these days - I mean it One of these days - I promise One of these days - I'll follow through To play the role of a failure Is what I'm doomed to be cast But do you think it shows Can't seem to control my future Can not account for my past One of these days - I mean it One of these days - I promise One of these days - I'll follow through But I can see others around me And I am not the only one To ask myself the simple question 'What in my life have I done?' Years speed up faster and faster Time keeps on passing me by But do you think it shows Is this the way it goes When you are living a lie One of these days - I mean it One of these days - I promise One of these days - I'll follow through

Stylish and clever and charming and clean Immodest and stubborn and sometimes obscene Intimidating, intelligent and brunette-ly haired And I'm not so sure if I'm turned on or scared No way in the world could I paint you The bigger picture of Jacqui Attractive and classy and privately kind Pretentious and bitchy and quite unrefined Eye-catching and witty and thoughtfully dressed And I like you more than I'm game to confess No way in the world could I paint you The bigger picture of Jacqui Watercolors and oils Don't totally illustrate All your good points and all of your faults All the things canvas cant re-create Bewitching, flirtatious, surprisingly bright Vulgar, suggestive and damn impolite Sexy, conceited, opinionated And I don't know why I'm so easily led No way in the world could I paint you The bigger picture of Jacqui

about

Released in 1999. Here are the liner notes from the time;
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
As a live band, Undertow city have a singular mission; to play original, high energy, melodic rock'n'roll, and play it better than anyone else. Their mission is usually accomplished...

Formed in Melbourne in 1998, Undertow City brings together the talents of four dedicated musicians of rare ability.

Lead singer and guitarist Colin Bokulic, whilst still in his mid-twenties, is a veritable veteran of the Melbourne's live music scene. His piercing tenor and aggressive guitar playing have graced such bands as The Festers, Strangers In Paradise, Fat Finger and (the perhaps unfortunately named) Rat Salad. Furthermore his sonorous saxophone lines (a result of years of tuition under the Hey!, Hey! band's Kelly Santin) add an extra dimension to Undertow City songs such as the poppy 'Sabrina' and the full-tilt rocker 'Chance'.

With nearly twenty years stage experience behind him, lead guitarist Dick Pengelley knows what it's all about. the rhythmic crunch and melodic lead lines that flow effortlessly from his Stratocaster help elevate songs like 'The Bigger Picture' and 'Space Hero' into near-perfect examples of the high-energy rock genre.

Undertow City's engine room is fuelled relentlessly by drummer Craig Fenwick. A past member of bands such as Wits End, Holy Cow! and Hope, his 10 years experience behind the kit, not to mention his awesome snare sound, lend white-hot rockers like 'Smallgood' and 'One Of These Days' the sort of savagery they require. His deft hand with dynamics helps steer the band through the more subtle terrain of 'Low-ly Girl' and 'True Love'.

Bass player Paul Spurling is a former member of Melbourne duo Familiar Sights. His playing resembles Undertow City as a whole -tough, yet melodic. His booming bass lines on 'Savage Waters' and 'Santa Fe' are a highlight of any Undertow City set.
